DIY
These following solutions are not only natural, they are low in cost and consist of items you will already have in your cupboard. The perfect option for cleansing on a budget.
Baking soda:
A cupboard staple, baking soda is more than just a pantry item.
  • To remove built-up dirt and tarnishing, simply make a thick paste using ¼ cup of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of room temperature water.
  • Apply the paste with a clean, damp sponge.
  • Gently rub the paste to lift impurities and dirt.
  • Rinse with cool water and buff dry.
Toothpaste:
Don’t have any baking soda to hand? Not a problem as baking soda can be found in a common bathroom staple - toothpaste. Avoid toothpaste that contains any bleaching/whitening agents, tartar-controls chemicals/ingredients or granulates as they can damage the colour and appearance of your jewellery.
Simply buff a pea-sized amount of toothpaste using a soft-bristle brush and rinse with room temperature water and dry thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth.
Tips and general guidance
  • Take careful care with polishing soft gems as they scratch easily. Avoid harsh and abrasive chemicals and opt for a gentle polish cloth.
  • Some coloured gemstones can be impacted with sudden temperature change so ensure you don’t expose your precious gemstones to direct sunlight and heat.
  • Store each of your jewellery pieces in their provided gift box/pouch to avoid scratches and discolouring.
  • Silver oxidises when in contact with oxygen which causes your jewellery to tarnish and discolour. This is normal, simply buff away the discolouring with a silver polishing cloth and watch the dirt rub away.
  • Always apply any cosmetic products before adorning with jewellery.
  • After each wear, wipe each piece of jewellery with a clean soft cloth to remove any oils, impurities and built-up dirt.
  • Never expose jewellery to household cleaning products, always remove and store your jewellery somewhere safe when engaging in household and gardening chores.
  • Never expose and immerse jewellery in chlorine swimming pools and hot tubs.
Remember each of our jewellery pieces only requires a clean from time-to-time and should always be kept and stored safe. Let us know which is your preferred cleaning method; our favourite is a good old polishing cloth.
Happy cleaning!
